A great set of reviews by James Suckling for our 2019 red wines.
2019 Prominence Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon – “An aromatic red with notes of ripe dark fruit, licorice, chocolate and wet earth. Full-bodied with plush fruit, chewy tannins and a warming mouth-feel. Long, savory aftertaste. Wood is coming through a little at the moment. Give it time to come around. Try in 2023. 92 points“
2019 Amaryllis Spring Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon – “Ripe and mellow black and blue fruit, vanilla, pine wood and chocolate. Medium-to full-bodied with soft tannins and bright acidity. Ripe, yet succulent and fine tannined. Drink or hold.. 92 points“
2019 Jetrois Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon – “Notes of currant-bush leaves, ripe cassis, spices and cigar box. Medium-to full-bodied with firm tannins and bright, savory fruit. Has a long, dry finish with hints of crushed stones and cement. Try in 2023. 92 points“
2019 Ardante Mt Veeder Cabernet Sauvignon – “This wine shows ripe blackberries and cassis with notes of currant bush, cedar wood and blue flowers. Some pine cones, too. Full body with an array of polished tannins and soft texture framing the delicious fruit. Balanced and succulent. Long finish. Drinkable now, but better in 2023. 92 points“
2019 Eminence Coombsville Cabernet Sauvignon – “This wine has intense pine-cone and pine-needle character, as well as some tobacco and spices. Full-bodied and dry with layers of tannins, deep fruit and a warming mouth-feel. Slightly bitter wood and vanilla-bean aftertaste. Needs some time to soften. Try in 2023. 91 points“
2019 Jovana Napa Valley Merlot/Cabernet Franc – “Dark plums, baked blueberries, blackberries, chocolate orange, thyme and pressed flowers on the nose. It’s full-bodied with firm, fine tannins. Concentrated, with a firm core of dark fruit and herbs. 65% merlot and 35% cabernet franc. Try in 2024.. 91 points“
